1 live meeting
40 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
Each week students will work together creating survival camps, hunting, mining, crafting, protecting, and using effective communication skills, with the end goal of defeating the Ender dragon and maybe even the Wither! This is a no-pressure class great for all skill levels with a basic understanding of Minecraft. Each player will be encouraged to share their knowledge and help their fellow teammates along. The point of this class is to create a social setting in a positive place. I wanted to create a class where students can connect with peers and enhance creativity, problem-solving, self-direction, collaboration, and other life skills. *Students will need Bedrock Edition Minecraft. *Students must also be signed into their Microsoft accounts, or Xbox live account, in order to join a world. Not all game systems will connect with other words. That is ok and students are still able to work on solo projects and still join in on the Zoom discussion. NOTE - You will need to have a way to play Minecraft as well as use the Zoom program. (Bedrock Edition only; not compatible with Java Edition) *Please Do Not Break anything you didn't build and be positive as things will not always go as planned. Each class will be different and independent so you are able to join one class or come as often as you like!
Learning Goals
Students will learn new tricks and tips from other learners as we are sharing ideas during the class
Students will meet others with similar interests and gain confidence sharing their own ideas and skills
Other Details
Supply List
Learners will need another device with Minecraft to use during class time as well as access to Zoom. A device such as a tablet and Minecraft Bedrock Edition (Please note, Minecraft Bedrock edition can be played across multiple platforms such as tablets, PC, and game systems) IN ADDITION TO THE SOFTWARE, your student will need an Xbox Live account to join worlds with their peers. When you open Minecraft, just click on the “Sign In” button, and you will be prompted to create the account(s) you need. Some platforms require an additional account to access online games, such as Nintendo Online and Xbox Live Gold. NOTE: Students MUST have an Xbox Live Gamertag for online cross-platform play. This must be created with an email address, with the help of an adult BEFORE class in order to be able to play online and connect with other students in class. IMPORTANT: This version of the course only supports Bedrock Edition, which is available for tablets, smartphones, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Playstation 4, and Windows 10.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Lisa and I am so excited to be teaching for Outschool! As a mother to 5 children, ages 11 to 23, have modeled and taught life skills such as sewing, cooking, arts/ crafts, animal husbandry, and balancing a budget to name a few. For the past 10 years, I have taught in my local homeschooling co-ops, Sunday school classes, and various other community activities. I believe when you actively engage children through hands-on learning, learning becomes effortless!
I am also a homeschooling mom. I have educated my children from kindergarten up to grade 8. I have taught kindergarten which I have specialized in teaching phonics and letter recognition. As well as, science, word building, social studies, bible, and English literature.
Currently, I have been teaching ESL online for the last 3 years, to children in China ages 4 to 13 years. This experience has really helped me to be a more precise teacher. It is a great joy to see smiling faces as they learn and discover.
