Class Experience

💎 Welcome to Crystalix Superpower’s Game! 💎

This is a multiplayer, active online game played through Zoom, where you’ll train your real-life superpowers while scavenge hunting your home and having fun.

Your mission? Protect your crystals, complete challenges, and outsmart your opponents—without running!

How the Game Works:

🔹 Before starting:
Set a Crystalix image as your Zoom virtual background to play.
Ensure your device is compatible with Zoom’s virtual background feature.

🔹 During the game:
Protect your crystals—other players will try to capture them with screenshots!
Attack strategically—take a screenshot when another player’s crystal is exposed.
Earn Victory Points (VPs) by completing missions and keeping your space clean.
💡 You can’t run! If someone catches you running, you lose 4 points. Safety first!

Other Details

Learning Needs
Usually enjoyed by neurodivergent kids. But NOT especially designed for them. I'm a really patient facilitator, open and acceptant to the uniqueness of each kid, If needed 1-on-1 session available.
Parental Guidance
During this class, kids will be moving around, collecting and "shooting" objects with their camera while also avoiding other learners who may take a screenshot of them if they’re not protecting their crystals on Zoom’s virtual background. To ensure their device stays safe, please use a heavy-duty case— a wrist strap is highly recommended. Each parent is responsible for helping their child choose a suitable space for the activity and setting clear boundaries for where they can go during the scavenger hunt (e.g., backyard, front yard, kitchen, living room, or even near the trash can). The larger the space, the richer the experience! We encourage repurposing household items as learning tools whenever possible. A key rule of the game is that kids must leave their learning space cleaner and more organized than they found it. Since this is hard to monitor in an online setting, please inform Álvaro if this isn’t the case so he can reinforce this habit during class. Optional Role: *The Spirit of the House* You may choose to take on the role of the "Spirit of the House," a wise guardian of order and harmony. As the Spirit, you have the power to "capture" (with your camera) the disasters and the good deeds of your child—both of which will have in-game effects!
Pre-Requisites
Headset highly recommended (Microphone + earphone). Being in noisy places will be common, especially if share your learning space with others. This will improve our communication.
Supply List
We have a scavenge hunt game mechanic: our first option is to reuse, then to recycle, if for any reason, kids can not find the needed common objects for the projects, they will have a time between classes to gather those, we will notify parents if that's the case.

For example: A simple DC electric motor (DIY project) will require a magnet, copper cable, and a battery. Commonly found in broken home devices.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
