Learning Goals
*Students will learn new options of how to manage themselves when angry and why it is
healthier for them to release anger without harming self or others. SUPERKID POWER skills create confidence.
*Learning where the beginning of anger grabs hold of thoughts and feelings is connected to the body in a physical
sensation of a tight knot which is located in each individual in her/his own particular way to experience anger. I first react
in my stomach. Mad feelings will control me if I am not aware of that beginning tension because it will spread all over my body.
Research shows that thoughts/feelings/body changes are all connected. When my thoughts are mad thoughts, my feelings are mad feelings and my body feels the angry tension. If I am aware of the location of where the mad tension begins, I have more choices in how I want to MANAGE the anger instead of it controlling me. If it spreads all over my body, THAT is when I lose control and it takes
over which results in poor choices of anger release. That could harm myself and/or others which creates more stress. Awareness of how our internal resources work together of mind/body/emotions in connection with how we are breathing means
if we learn healthy ways to release the anger, we can control it. This does not mean repressing it. Healthy harm-free release of anger is the healthiest way to manage oneself and keep relationships healthy. Anger is a natural human emotional experience. It is what we DO with it that makes a difference in the quality of life and relationships. Children who learn this skill truly feel like they are their own heroes and have SUPERKID POWER.
