Description skills are highly involved in creating a character. Superheroes are some of the most descriptive characters created. While creating their own character, students will learn more description skills and use it to work with their own creativity. What goes into making a character? What can be done with the character once it is created? These are topics that will be discussed while the students are using their skills to both write a short description of the character and draw...
Students will improve their description skills beyond the basics of color, size, and shape into more character skills of how their own superhero is brave, personally interacts, and simple symbolism. A major goal of the class is to not only create a visual character but to understand that what they do is just as or even more important.
The final project can be finished outside of class. The work is completed when the superhero is done. It is a personal hero, so the perfect superhero will be different for everyone.
white paper, lined notebook paper, a pencil, and colored pencils, markers or crayons
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
