Superheroes In this one time class, learners will complete a full day curriculum with a superhero theme, in just 55 minutes. This teacher-led lesson follows an interactive and animated self-created PowerPoint slide presentation. Various digital techniques will be used to enhance learning and to help keep the children engaged (for the full 55 minutes). Learners will practice contractions, two column addition, superhero word problems, puzzles and much more. I include a lot of material and information throughout the lesson, and try to keep the pace moving quickly. Some material might seem advanced, but I include it anyway. In my experience, 5 -8 year old learners are like learning sponges, able to absorb so much of what they hear. Schedule and What’s Happening 1. Morning Meeting/Greeting: Welcome, warm up song, calendar, weather, question of the day (2) “What is a hero? What is a superhero? 2. Reading/Language Arts/Vocabulary: Listen to a story and answer questions about superheroes, contractions, letter recognition, spelling, vowels, writing, superhero vocabulary 3. Math: Number recognition, writing numbers, following directions, addition, word problems 4. Snack: Virtual on-screen snack (Superhero vegetables and fruit with orange juice) 5. Movement: Move like superheroes 6. Art- Design Your Own Superhero worksheet 7. Fine Motor Skills- writing, virtual superhero puzzle The superhero puzzle is interactive. I've learned that when I give mouse control to learners with a touchscreen laptop or computer, or use a mouse, they have no problems moving the puzzle pieces. I pad users seem to be able to mouse over the puzzle piece, but not move the pieces. That's fine. I will help. Vocabulary: hero, superhero, villain, arch enemy, sidekick Materials “Design Your Own Superhero” worksheet printed before class begins, colored pencils. The “Superhero Contractions” paper can be competed after class for more practice because we never seem to have enough time to complete it in class. The kids will learn that Tommy Time is my arch enemy because I am always running out of time!
Learning Goals
In 55 minutes, students will learn... a lot! They will listen to a superhero story to learn ten qualities of a superhero, learn superhero contractions and math, move like superheroes, eat a virtual snack and design their own superhero.

Hello! My name is Sharon, Teacher Sharon. I am both thankful and excited to have this opportunity to help children from all over the world have fun while learning. I love making learning fun!
I have my Masters of Education (MEd) and over 20 years of experience teaching and learning from children of all ages. I have experience as a nursery school director, a Kid's Club supervisor (twice) and a classroom teacher for Pre-K through high school. I have also taught technology, after-school elementary science classes, cupcake decorating, and brick building.
I am very fortunate to have grown up overseas and have lived all over the world. Some of my many passions include creating fun, educational classes, scuba diving, traveling, science, crafting, my precious dog, cat, fish and snails and of course teaching.
I like to keep class sizes small to help learners engage and participate. If your child is interested in any of my classes that are not currently scheduled, or if a different time or day would work better for you, please feel free to contact me.
Learning in my classroom is engaging, energetic, fun, enjoyable, upbeat and entertaining. "Your child won't want to leave at the end of class and will beg to come back for more." (That's my superhero catch phrase.)
NOTE: I am very flexible with class scheduling. If you are interested in one of my classes, but you don't see it listed on a day or time that you want, please find a class that is already listed when you want the class. Send me a message and I will do my best to switch the class that you want with the one that is already listed.
I look forward to helping your child have fun while learning. Have a wonderful day,
~Teacher Sharon🙂
