Superhero Training Camp
Class experience
Would you like to be a superhero like Spiderman, Batman, or Owlet? In this 1 week camp, we will train to become superheroes! On our very first day of training camp, we will learn about each others favorite superheroes. I know it is hard to pick! We will have a superhero show and tell where you can bring something to share from your favorite (or one of your favorite) superheroes. We will also ready a book: My First Book of Super Powers by Morris Katz. We will talk about the different...
Day 1: Show and Tell Superhero Item Day 2: A 1 page printable will be provided before class for their mask design. You can choose to use this or a basic mask that you have at home (I know some students have blank ones made of cloth they may want to use- if not the paper ones will work great). You can use markers/crayons and/or stickers or paper/glue to design their superhero mask. You may want some string (elastic/strechy would be best but yarn will work) to tie the mask on, or a popsicle stick to glue the mask onto so it can be help up easily. Because eye holes can be difficult to cut out, please cut out the mask that has been provided before class. Day 3: No supplies needed (learners can wear their masks they made in our previous class if they wish). Learners can dress up as superheroes for each and every class if they would like! I will join them in their dress up, but this is completely optional for learners who do not want to. For Day 2 and 3 of class, I do recommend that learners have enough space to move around to practice their super powers.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
While talking about superpowers, we may discuss how some superheroes do use their muscles to fight the super villains. Good will always triumph over evil during class, but be aware, super villains may cause some trouble that we will have to pretend fight against. Day 2 and Day 3 of class will have utilize some movement and activity. I encourage a grown up to be near to make sure that their learner is staying safe while practicing their super powers.
