Superhero Science: Amazing Spider Man - Genetics, Radiation and Bioartistry!
What's included
1 live meeting
55 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
This class will focus on one superhero, the Amazing Spider Man! We will discuss the history and origin of how Spider Man got his powers, how they would apply to our world and some of the biology and physiology involved. We will discuss some differences from the comic book version of Spider Man to the Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider Man. We will talk a lot about the science of anatomy, physiology, physics (lightly) and genetics as it relates to Spider Man and his abilities. We will discuss some fascinating possibilities as to how his spider sense relates to actual spiders and their extraordinary senses! The format will be mostly discussion with open question and answer. There will be no homework assigned, no prior knowledge or experience is necessary. It would be helpful to know who Spider Man is and what powers he possesses as well as general knowledge of the terms I have on the worksheet I attached. Those terms will help the learner better understand some of the science involved in the class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn some of the basic ideas around genetics, anatomy, and DNA, radiation and physiology and how some of the attributes of animals and other creatures could possibly be manifested in humans.
