Students should be able to identify 3 Main Areas of the Body with examples (Lower, Core, Upper) as well as some iconic superhero poses, exercises, and trivia.Class Experience
—SETUP— Since the digital classroom is different than a standard classroom, learners may need help getting set up. Here are the following ways we set up Zoom for class: 1) Stage Picture! Every family must know how to position the camera properly so that each learner can be seen from head to toe on the screen. Sun theater, this is called our “stage picture” and we use it often to make references when learning moves! 2) Zoom’s Whiteboard Feature. Besides martial arts, we also practice DRAWING and watching superhero videos from YouTube. So parents should ensure that students know how to use Zoom’s whiteboard drawing feature for the optimal experience. Otherwise bring along a piece of paper and colors to draw with. —CURRICULUM— The Superhero Fitness+ curriculum is comprised of: - “Vibranium Method”: Fitness for the 3 Main Areas of the Body - “Spider Senses”: Performance Martial Arts, Theater Improv, & Camera Work - Superhero Video Discussion Every month resets our training cycle: WEEK 1 - Upper Body Strength WEEK 2 - Core Strength WEEK 3 - Lower Body Strength WEEK 4/5 - Full Body Flow Every week’s superhero theme is decided by vote the week prior and reoccurring votes rollover in the queue for the following week. Common themes are: Spider-Man & The Sinister Six Marvel Avengers & X-Men DC Justice League & Teen Titans TMNT Super Mario Sonic the Hedgehog Super Smash Bros & Pokémon Using these Superhero Skills, we build character, skills, connections, and combos that enhance our fitness level and imaginations. Everyday we study a new Superhero of the Day to learn new ways to use the exercises we learn in class. Learners will interact with the coach by showing the Coach the Superhero Skills of the Day after copying the flow or instructions of the Coach. We also: watch superhero videos, draw superheroes, play listening and reflex games, go on “superhero imagination adventures”, have “superhero showdowns”, and do “next level” skill challenges. Learners regularly receive spotlights and shoutouts as an example of excellence or spirit, as well as have a chance to be a leader in class games or “superhero imagination adventures”. However, Learners may also be asked to wait their turn to share or lead if things get too exciting. Coach regularly chats with learners about superheroes, answers trivia questions, and uses learner suggestions in activities. Students are encouraged to wear a superhero costume as well!! Coach Spidey ALWAYS wears something Spider-related in class. Bonus points if you match Coach! Sometimes in class we will use our “superhero gear” to supplement and boost our workouts. Superhero gear is a household item like a pillow, the couch, a water bottle, a toy sword, superhero specific gear (like Captain America Shield), an action figure, or a towel. These items will function with our imagination to represent things superheroes interact with like a shield, a car, a cloud, a building, a superhero or supervillain, Thor’s hammer, Wonder Woman’s sword, etc. The class will consist of a group size of up to 6 kids. Class time is structured in two 15 min portions of superhero-inspired movement and art discussion prepared by Coach Eurico. Class movement goals include building strength, agility, flexibility, balance, cardio, and absolute beginner martial arts & tumbling! Class artistic goals include learning colors, drawing shapes, taking direction, using team work, creating characters, and telling stories. No prior experience is required. Past experience with Zoom is recommended.

Parental Guidance
In this class, we will work up a sweat! Make sure your child has adequate space to perform movements and has water ready.
This class is built to strengthen learners, so these basic fitness movements are very safe. Coach Eurico does do flips often throughout class, but don’t try it at home!
Also a disclaimer that superhero role playing may also include mentions of fighting, self-defense, and protection by nature. Coach Eurico encourages non-violence and superpowers as a means of helping the world, and not instigating violence.
Also this class is recommended to be done barefoot, and is often done this way by Coach Eurico.
Supply List
Superhero costume, water, open space! Sometimes in class we will also use superhero gear to supplement and boost our workouts. So shields, swords, toy hammers, toy vehicles, action figures, pillows, towels, backpacks, and water bottles are in the range of household items we may use!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Coach Eurico has over 10 years of experience coaching children through various academic and athletic endeavors, from brick-and-mortar classrooms, to gyms, and even camp counselor roles. Coach Eurico led and managed a brick & mortar kids parkour program at Urban Youth Park for 3 years in Southern California before joining Outschool during COVID.
Besides coaching, Eurico has experience performing stunts on film and to live audiences. He is known for his work with the touring arena stunt spectacular Marvel Universe LIVE by FELD Entertainment, which toured across the USA and Europe, where he portrayed Spiderman, Wolverine, and Chitauri. He has also amassed a large following on Instagram and Tik Tok.
Coach Eurico started Spider Martial Arts to bring representation to martial artists and superheroes of color. It’s been a blessing and inspiration to see what kids have achieved in this class to breakdown superhero moves from the same screens they watch these superheroes on. If you have any suggestions about superheroes to spotlight in class or questions about training please let me know anytime.
