Based on neuroscience, we will use movement and positive thoughts to help students to harness their emotions into a force for productive work. After this class, they will be more energetic and focused to do homework and other activities for the next day or so. CLASS EXAMPLE: Workout Brief: up to 2 minutes Workout, movement, stretching, and the topic of the day discussion. General Warm-Up: 4 minutes Examples: warm-up, shoulder shrugs, arm circles, run in place, wide arm swings, arms forward movement, knee raises Specific Workout: 20-22 minutes Examples: Arm Circles, Jumping Jacks, Running in place, Toe Touchers, Sky Reach, Squats, Lunges, Bird Dog, Inchworm, World's Greatest Stretch, Walking High Knees, Walking Quads Pulls, Cradles, Backward Hamstrings, High Knees, Back Kicks, Side Lunges, Skaters, Split Jumps, Split Squats, Mountain Climbers, and other movements. Stretching and Topic Discussion: 20-22 minutes Examples: Neck Rotations, Arm and Shoulder, Arm Circles, Chest, Abdominal, Lower Back, Butterfly, ITB (iliotibial band), Thighs, Toe Touchers, Calves, Hamstring, and other stretches. Cool-Down, Goal Setting, and Review: up to 3 minutes The brain is now prepped for the most efficient learning.
I have participated in and completed long-distance endurance weighted beach runs, and obstacle races, including the Spartan Sprint, Ultra, and Beast (5k, 10k, and 21k [13.5 miles]). I have been informally trained by ultra runners, triathletes, and professional athletes on methodologies on movements associated with exercise and stretching.
