Calling all Superheroes! Time to save the day! Each week will feature new Super Friends! Every week is different and I have had kiddos taking this class with me for YEARS, and still enjoying it! Learners will perform various balance, agility, and strength exercises. Workouts are themed around Marvel and DC Superheroes like Spiderman, Batman, Flash, Hulk, Wonder Woman, Black Widow and many more! Some weeks Sonic, Mario Brothers, Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers, Lego Ninjago, and even Pokémon make an appearance! No prior experience needed. No supplies or equipment needed! Come dressed in comfortable clothes or as your favorite Superhero! My spidey-sense is tingling! Let’s get active, socialize, and save the world together! Don’t forget to bring all your energy, superpowers, and a water bottle too! Pretending to be super friends in this upbeat fitness workout keeps it fun and entertaining! Class will begin with an introduction and talking about our favorite superheroes or setting the scene for that class. I can’t wait to hear all the things you know about being a superhero! Each week your learner will be encouraged to bring a superpower with them! Will you be invisible, Sonic speed, able to scale tall buildings, or have X-ray vision? I will first guide students through the warm-up. Safety first! Next, I will model and perform a variety of exercises as we have fun and fight off villains or work on our super training and skills. Finally, class will finish with a final cool down stretch and flexing our superhero muscles! Learners will have the opportunity to help me count out our exercise repetitions and share all their super friend knowledge. You can expect your child to receive lots of encouragement and praise throughout our workout. They will leave feeling excited about fitness, and with new exercises they can practice at home! Active fun for the whole family! Join at anytime! Stay enrolled as long as your kiddo is enjoying it! Example Workouts: Marvel and DC- Villains are attacking the city Avengers Training Sonic Super Speed Princess Peach Obstacle Course Power Ranger Battles Ninja Turtle Training Superheroes Save the Animals Kung Fu Panda Power Marvel and DC- Villains are robbing the city and kidnap Black Panther Bowser's Castle Adventure Catch em' All Pokemon Sonic Versus Mario Hulk Smash Spidey and Friends Lego Ninjago Mission Possible SO MANY MORE!
Learning Goals
Students will learn REAL stretches and exercises disguised as Superhero movements. Practicing and perfecting these exercises over time will improve your child’s flexibility, balance, agility, and increase strength!
They will also be working towards achieving the daily physical activity recommendations of both the CDC and American Heart Association. According to the CDC, it is recommended that "children (3-5 years) should be physically active throughout the day for growth and development. Children and adolescents ages (6-17 years) should do 60 minutes or more of moderate-to-vigorous intensity physical activity each day, including daily aerobic – and activities that strengthen bones (like running or jumping) – 3 days each week, and that build muscles (like climbing or doing push-ups) – 3 days each week."
According to the American Heart Association:
Active kids are more likely to have:
-a healthy weight
-stronger, healthier bones and muscles
-better heart and brain health
-improved brain function, including memory, attention and problem-solving
-better school attendance and academic performance, especially in math, reading and writing
-lower long-term risk of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and some kinds of cancer
-less stress and fewer symptoms of anxiety and depression
-less inappropriate and distracting classroom behavior
-improved mental health and psychological well-being, including confidence and self-esteem
