Description
Class Experience
Class Approach: Most classes will follow a sequence such as the following: 1. Warm-Up and review the previous skill 2. Challenge Activity (Examining and reading a passage appropriate for the grade level of the students). 3. Activity time: This would be when we reflect on the fun and engaging books they are reading and share about them.
I have specialized in teaching reading for almost a decade! I have a love for learning and teaching that extends beyond the classroom and I infuse confidence coaching into everything I teach. In this class, we will be learning growth-mindset and higher-order thinking/ literacy skills and will aim to provide a framework so that every student will end the course with a brighter spark for reading.
Participation is absolute to make the most of this class. Students should “preread” the short text that we will be discussing during that lesson. Then, students will re-read the text twice between classes if they attend more than once.
Printing the readings is helpful but not required.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
