Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 2
Do you want to help your learner increase their reading fluency? I am here to help!

At the beginning of each class, learners will be introduced to the phoneme or word family that we are studying. Learners can brainstorm words that fit that category. Then, we will have some onset/rime blending practice. After that, learners will be introduced to the poem of the lesson. They will track the words while I read it out loud. Next, we will practice echo reading. Learners will then identify words from the poem that fit into the word family category. Finally, learners will practice visualization and draw a picture of what the poem made them think of. If they are comfortable reading out loud, each learner will get a turn to read the poem out loud! Learners will have access to a Toothy or Blooket game to practice after class to reinforce the phonetic pattern learned in class! Bonus activities are also included for additional independent practice!

We will begin with the short vowel sounds and progress to long vowels, digraphs, and r controlled vowels.
