In this semester long small group class, learners will be introduced to the basics of the Spanish language that will have them on their way to speaking Spanish in no time!

 Week 1
Lesson 1
¡Bienvenidos!
Learners will be introduced to numbers, days of the week, and different greetings they can use when meeting someone.
 Week 2
Lesson 2
¿Qué Tiempo Hace Hoy?
Students will learn about different types of weather.
 Week 3
Lesson 3
¿Cómo estás?
Students will learn how to ask how a friend feels, and also how to respond to someone asking them how they feel.
 Week 4
Lesson 4
Los Meses y Las Estaciones
In this lesson, we will discuss the 4 seasons as well as what the current month is.
 Week 5
Lesson 5
Los Números 11-20
We will review the numbers 1-10 and learn how to count to 20.
 Week 6
Lesson 6
Los Colores
We will learn our colors in Spanish.
 Week 7
Lesson 7
Los útiles escolares
In this lesson, we will discuss all the different items we use when learning.
 Week 8
Lesson 8
Los Números 21-100
In this lesson, we will be counting by tens from 10-100.
 Week 9
Lesson 9
Juegos Con Colores
This week, we will be completing several challenges with our colors vocabulary.
 Week 10

La Ropa
In this lesson, we will be talking about different types of clothing.
 Week 11
Lesson 11
Mi Cuerpo
This week, we will learning the names of different parts of our body.
 Week 12
Lesson 12
Mis Pasatiempos
During this lesson, we will be learning all about hobbies/activities and talking about which ones we like/do not like.
  • Students will be able to understand and speak Spanish at the A1- A2 level by the end of this semester.
1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Homework
Frequency: 3-6 per week
Feedback: included
Details: Homework in the form of review each day is highly suggested. Ten minutes of review in the form of games has been found to increase the learner's retention of Spanish as well as give them more confidence in speaking.
Projects
Frequency: 3-6 throughout the class
Feedback: included
Details: Simple projects will be offered several times during the semester, and are optional but highly recommended.
Assessment
Frequency: 1-2 throughout the class
Details: Informal oral and written assessments will be conducted frequently.
Certificate of Completion
Frequency: 1 after class completion
Details: Official grades are not given, but each learner will receive a certificate of completion.
Learners will need a small white board and marker each week. Other materials that will be needed periodically include coloring materials, glue, scissors and blank paper. Handouts that may be needed will be available in the classroom and will need to be printed prior to the start of the class meeting.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
