In this early childhood circle time, we will explore the concept of sorting. Sorting is a foundational math skill that involves observing, comparing, and contrasting objects. We will work together to notice ways in which objects are similar and different. Then, we will group objects that are similar in the ways we discovered (for example, similar shapes, sizes, colors, etc.). This class will include a morning song, question of the day, read aloud that will be tied to our focus skill ("Goldilocks and the Three Bears"), a music and movement break, and sorting practice. No prior knowledge is required for participation in this class. Come celebrate learning with me! * Parent Note * Much of the material used in this one-time class is identical to the material used in my ongoing class entitled "Ongoing Math Academy - Early Childhood Math Skills"

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there! I am a licensed early childhood and elementary teacher with a Masters Degree in Elementary Education and a Specialist Degree in School Psychology. As a Navy spouse, I have had the opportunity to live in several states and work in several schools as an elementary teacher, preschool teacher, substitute teacher, small group tutor, behavior specialist, inclusion consultant, and school psychologist. I also have two elementary-aged kiddos of my own that are my two sensational sidekicks in life! (And one furry doggy sidekick too!)
I believe that learning should be joyful, engaging, and cooperative. In my classroom, you will find singing, movement, games, silliness, and lots of learning. I love working with children and getting to know all of the special things that make them who they are. I am so excited to meet you in class - let’s be curious together!
