Description
Class Experience
Students will learn to use adjectives to improve the quality of sentences. Students will learn to use powerful verbs and adverbs to improve the quality of sentences. Students will learn to use conjunctions (connectives) to extend sentences. Students will experiment with changing the word order of sentences, to add variety to their writing. Students will grow in confidence to read out loud and share their work. Students will learn how to be a 'critical friend'; suggesting improvements to each other's writing.
I am an English Specialist with 37 years' teaching experience in UK primary schools (4-11 year-olds).
At the end of each class, I will encourage students to complete a homework task lasting around 20-30 minutes, to send to me before the next week's class. This will be optional, and the next class will not be a direct follow-on from the homework.
All reading materials will be supplied by the teacher at least 24 hours before each session. notebook/paper pen/pencil
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Informal, ongoing assessment will be given throughout the course.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
