I love writing songs!! It is one of my passions, and I want to share it in the classroom. Songwriting can be super simple, and in this 30-minute class, I’ll show you how. We’ll work together to create an original song. No instruments are required, but if you have one you can play bring it to class. In this group class, the students will create songs as a class together and finally independently. If time allows we will create more than one. The focus of the class is primarily creating lyrics, but there will be singing, and students proficient in an instrument can bring it to class, to play along. Please be aware that due to the limited time of the class any instruction on instrumentation will be brief. Students that do not play an instrument will be provided an alternative for creating accompaniment for their song. Hello! My name is Ms. Edy ! I have a Bachelor of Science in Vocal Choral music Education, and I am in my 17th year as a certified K-12 music educator. I have taught, general music, as well as directed choir and theater. I am currently a classroom teacher in a K-3 multiage classroom. In total, I have worked with children for over 20 years in many capacities.
I believe music provides an outlet for self-expression, bridges cultural gaps, challenges the mind, soothes the soul and aids in communicating the incommunicable. Music is a gift that all students deserve to receive. Through the process of music education, students can uncover new interest and skills that otherwise would have remained unknown. I am here to provide classes for students to express and explore their musical talents and abilities. I also, plan to provide plant-based cooking classes as a way to support good vocal health.
