Class Experience
Welcome to the Super Science Series, Habitats & Adaptations! In this class, students will learn about 5 habitats and the animals that live in them. We will also learn about the physical adaptations animals in various environments have. At the end of this unit, students will apply their knowledge to create their own animals with adaptations that will help them survive in one of the environments we have learned about. Each week, students will be introduced to a new habitat and group of animals through video lessons, read aloud, and interactive games. Each Monday, new video lessons and activities will be shared. Each Wednesday, new discussion questions and activities will be shared. The major focus of this class is science, with an added bonus of art. We will study the following habitats: Week 1- Habitat: Ocean Animals: Orca, Puffer Fish, Octopus, Shark, Stingray Observation Experiment: Fresh Water vs. Salt Water Week 2- Habitat: Arctic Animals: Penguin, Polar Bear, Seal, Arctic Fox, Snowy Owl Experiment: Blubber Adaptation Week 3- Habitat: Dessert Animals: Camel, Ostrich, Fennec Fox, Rattle Snake Observation Experiment: Soaking Up Water Week 4- Habitat: Rainforest Animals: Toucan, Sloth, Jaguar, Capuchin Monkey Activity: Rainforest Layers Week 5- Habitat: Grasslands Animals: Giraffe, Elephant, Rhino, Zebra Activity: 3D Habitat Week 6- Apply what you have learned Create your own animal & habitat FLEX COURSE: This is a flex class, with no live meeting. This is great for students to take their time with their work and share it with us when they are complete. New classroom videos will be released each Monday, and students should post their work by Thursday to allowing for feedback. INTERACTION: 1) Students are encouraged to share with the class weekly through photos or videos. 2) Students will also have the opportunity to test their knowledge and compete against classmates via Kahoot. 3) Each Wednesday provides another opportunity for interaction through additional challenges and discussion questions WHY CHOOSE FLEX? - Great for busy families -Students can pause and replay the videos -Students can take their time with their work - No time zone issues -No need to miss other activities

Hey there! My name is Kaylani (I go by Teacher Kaylani or Mrs. K).
I am a state-certified teacher with experience in both Middle and Elementary school. I hold an M.Ed in Educational Leadership, a Bachelor's in Communication, and a TESOL certificate.
It is my passion to help students gain ( and keep) a love for learning. Learning should be valuable and fun.
Today, I work with children and adults from all levels and walks of life to help them progress to success in Science, Reading, and Math skills and confidence. You will even find the occasional Art class infused with Social Studies.
