Combine Positive & Negative Integers - using subtraction
Combine Adding & Subtracting of Positive and Negative Integers in various mathematical calculations & expressions
Combine Adding, Subtracting, Multiplying, Dividing, & Absolute Values in various mathematical calculations & expressions
Homework will be assigned for practice purposes. This will be done through the discussion board and Microsoft Word documents. The more students participate and practice, the greater discussion, dialogue, and understanding. Teacher will participate in discussions for guidance or clarification. Although Homework is not required - Instructor will provide feedback on all homework that is returned. Fun Projects to do at home may be included in homework activities.
Good Notebook for Notes, examples, and student work (spiral notebook or 3 ring binder with note paper) Keep organized in 1 place. Writing Pencil and Eraser (for math pencil is preferred so it doesn't get messy with pen mistakes) Colored Pencils (optional - but helpful for distinguishing various types of notes and examples) Notebook or writing paper - for working problems during class (optional) Whiteboard & Marker - also used for working problems during class *Helpful Handouts will be made available for classes after enrollment and when needed for class*
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Informal assessment will be done as a check for understanding. Students will be given an entry problem and an exit problem to solve using the techniques taught and the ability to demonstrate that technique will indicate a level of student understanding.
Although Homework is not required (and not graded) it can be an indicator of student understanding (I also realize there is no control over who actually does the homework -- but parent help is encouraged).
No letter grades will be assigned, however if additional help is needed, I will reach out to the student individually and students/parents can reach out to me for additional help as well.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Additional work outside of class will be homework and responses to the discussion board for students to interact on their own created problems. Please make sure your student's postings are appropriate for the class discussion and problems do not have any derogatory or inappropriate language or content.
