My classes are engaging and fun so that children are free of worry and stress. This enables children to focus on the material and enjoy learning to read. I do this by allowing them to speak and share their thoughts, participate and keep them engaged with fun activities. This is tailored tutoring, so each child will have activities specifically designed to fit their needs and learning style. Overall, the course will start with an evaluation for a starting point and proceed to skills & activities based on the learners needs. Each week students will review skills they have mastered, practice skills they have trouble with and expose them to new skills they will be working on soon. This style of exposure to every level of their learning capacity maximizes their growth. The class is structured by having some open discussion at the beginning and end, movement as we learn skills, repetition, singing along, and participating individually when called on or child volunteers. Children will be speaking often so there will be no need to mute their Zoom call. It will not be a lecture but a back and forth conversation through games, activities, and sharing thoughts. Students will: - sharpen their phonics skills (letter identification, capital/lowercase, sounds of letters, rhyming, etc) - sharpen their word building skills (beginning & ending sounds, short vowels, blending beginning sounds with vowels - sharpen their beginning reading skills ( CVC words, beginning blends, sight words, fluency) Each week we will focus on 4-6 different letters and sounds while also reviewing previously learned letters. Every session we will review short vowel sounds and blending short vowels with consonants. This repeated practice is the foundation of beginning reading skills and will set the base for future reading success. In every session we will also match capital letters to lowercase letters. Week 1: Letter Identification and sound recognition of letters M, P, S, B. Beginning blends and short vowels Ba Be Bi Bo Bu Week 2: Letter Identification and sound recognition of letters A, D, K, Z. Learning Goals
My goal for this course is that your child grows significantly in phonics and beginning reading skills. If phonics is their struggle, my goal is they learn all their letters & sounds. If they have that skill down packed, we will move into blending and short vowels to set the foundation.. After those skills are mastered we will begin to read small words, learn sight words, and read short stories with fluency and confidence.

Hello,
Embark on an interactive learning journey with me through engaged storytelling as we learn phonics and math with animals & mythical creatures your kiddos love! Incorporating the use of themes, my lessons are sure to captivate your little ones attention. As a teacher for Preschool through third grade for over a decade, I have learned many skills to enhance learning at this young age. Teaching phonics and early reading skills is truly my passion. My core philosophy is learn through play and repetition. As much as I can, I may ask the kids to get up and move as well so children are physically engaged as most at this age are kinesthetic learners.
-Students will practice their letter identification & sounds of letters
-Students will learn to spell their names orally
-Students will practice vowel sounds and blending sounds to make cvc words
-Students will practice shapes, number identification up to 10, counting, measuring, adding, subtracting and more foundational math skills
-Students will expand their vocabulary while learning about their favorite animals & mythical creatures
As a preschool teacher and elementary school teacher for a decade, I have mastered techniques that will help your children gain these skills while also having fun. As a full time mom who now homeschools, it has become more evident to me that learning needs to be child-led and interest based, thus, thematic classes are born. Some upcoming topics are sharks, dinosaurs, pirates & princesses, and my sons personal favorite- Giant Beasts like King Kong, Godzilla and more!
