Class experience
Life can feel overwhelming at times. Children sometimes need help learning how to control their feelings and emotions. This class will help them do just that. In this one-time class, students will become superheroes and learn that they have the power to control their super feelings. Students will learn simple breathing techniques and the zones of regulation to help them when their emotions feel too big. Students will learn and begin to apply the zones of regulation. The Zones is a systematic, cognitive-behavioral approach used to teach self-regulation by categorizing all the different ways we feel and states of alertness we experience into four concrete colored zones. The Zones framework provides strategies to teach students to become more aware of and independent in controlling their emotions and impulses, manage their sensory needs, and improve their ability to problem-solve conflicts.
* PRINT OUTS - Ms. Cyndi will send printouts before class starts * Colored pencils, crayons, or markers to color their superhero masks in class * Elastic or string or popsicle stick * Hole Punch * Scissors * Tape or glue
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
