This science based lesson will teach students about the three states of matter, density and convection all tied into on super fun science demo. This class is structured with lecture, discussion, note taking and a demo. Students will be asked to write and draw during his course. Students will complete a CER (Claim evidence reasoning) is explain the phenomena of heat rising. This class is lecture and discussion based. Optional: students will need a science notebook and pencil for this course.
Students will demonstrate knowledge of making scientific claims. Students will engage in gathering evidence to support a claim. Students will make connections between evidence and scientific claims. Students will use evidence to make claims about heat movement.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students will see a demonstration involving fire in a safe environment. Students will be informed of safety procedures as it pertains to this demonstration.
