Class Experience

Do you love playing your violin? Is the easy stuff getting you down? Are you ready to learn more interesting bowing styles, excited about learning vibrato, and charged up by the opportunity to play new notes, higher up on the finger board (positions)? Join this one-on-one class, geared towards your child's prior experience class and style. This course is for students who are intermediate level, and who need more lesson time. Sunshine Violin lessons are designed with your child's personal style, abilities and interests in mind. We will explore many different types of music and perform them as we learn to read music and also play by ear! My passion is to make learning the violin fun, even the hard parts! During lessons, we play games, sing songs, and have mini-music challenges. This approach motivates students to have a desire to learn and gets them through the times when their motivation is lacking. All lessons are private, one-on-one. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Learning Goals
Intermediate level musicians will learn to play a variety of music styles including classical, folk, fiddle, popular, and more. I will gear the lessons towards music that your child is interested in playing. Each lesson starts with a finger warm up, then progresses to games, performance, and working on the hard parts. Young musicians are encouraged in a positive classroom environment throughout the lesson. I have a philosophy of teaching students a positive progressive mindset as we practice and learn. Students at this level are often playing in a youth orchestra. I will spend time with your musician helping them through any parts they find extra challenging, and preparing them for performance and auditions. Many of my students have earned concert master, or section leader seats.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been playing violin since I was a little girl. I have performed in youth and community orchestras, played solos on many occasions, but most importantly, have found great success TEACHING children and adults how to play the violin, viola, cello and piano. I have conducted youth orchestras and lead school programs over the years. As a private studio teacher, I find it most rewarding when students go from the very beginning, to succeeding as concert master of their community youth orchestras. Some students have gone on to become professional musicians, studying at a variety of Universities, including Juliard.
