Homework
1 hour per week. Our youngest musicians should practice two minutes for each year. For example, a 4 year old should practice for 8-10 minutes every day. A 5 year old should practice for 10-12 minutes a day. If they want to practice more, then that's great, but they should at least do the above mentioned. Policy; Please note that classes will be refunded with 24 hours notice, unless there are extenuating circumstances. If students do not show up for class, I will wait for 10 minutes and then end the class for the day. I always do my best to be reasonable and fair with cancellations, after all, life happens! I am now teaching music full-time, so if you do not see a time that works for you, please contact me because I may have other availability other than what is listed on Outschool.

Class Experience

Is your child ready to learn the violin? Join this one- on-one class, geared towards our youngest violinists. Sunshine Violin Lessons are designed with your child's personal style, abilities and interest in mind. We will explore many different types of music and perform them as we learn to read music and also play by ear! My passion is to make learning the violin fun, even the hard parts! During lessons, we play games, sing songs, and have mini-music challenges. This approach motivates students to have a desire to learn and gets them through the times when their motivation is lacking. All lessons are private. Scheduling is flexible. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. If you child is older than the age listed, please contact me and we can still arrange lessons! Parents are needed to attend class with their child to help as we learn to hold the violin correctly and use the bow.
Learning Goals
Our youngest musicians will learn the parts of the violin, how to hold the violin, how to pluck and bow. They will learn basic note reading and will be able to play simple songs, progressing as they are ready. There is no pressure or rush, just patience and gentle challenge as the child is ready.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have taught students from the sweet little 4-6 year olds to fun-loving intermediate level violinists! I have also had the privilege of introducing cello and piano to many beginning students. It has been a joy to conduct community youth orchestras, lead violin camps, give private and group lessons and direct school violin and music programs. I also teach beginning cello and beginning piano. I believe in making learning fun, by playing games, moving, and doing challenges. Some of the students I have taught have performed in Carnegie Hall, attended top music conservatories, are professional fiddlers, and continue playing for life to bless their families and churches. I cater to your child's personal learning style and abilities. We progress as your child is ready so that they find a life-long love for their instrument.
