1 live meeting
1 hrs 15 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
In this ongoing cooking class students will make a new delicious baked good every week! We will make things like cookies, brownies, muffins, scones, pies and so much more! In this class students will learn by doing! Our weekly class takes us from preparation through the completion of the recipe. The class is scheduled for 1 hour and 15 minutes, this allows for those Sundays where a recipe may require more time, though most weeks we will finish around the 1-hour mark. If we finish within the 1-hour mark, I plan on staying in the classroom for students who need a little extra help or want to discuss recipes. I will discuss safety in the kitchen with appliances and tools we use. I supply a one-month supply list upon signing up for class. I will email the students their supply list once I get notification of their joining the class. We meet every Sunday from 10 am -11:15 am ****central time (exception dates around holidays will be listed in schedule) When you sign up for class, I will email you the supply list for the next class that you will be joining. If you sign up for class the day of class, please note I may be teaching another class and returning messages might be delayed. I will do my best to get back to you as soon as possible. Once you sign up for class, I will send you a message through Outschool with the current month's supply list. Here is current schedule recipe/schedule: 9/10 Chocolate Chip Cookies 9/17 Blueberry Crescent Rolls Muffins (can use alternative fruits) 9/24 Brownies 10/1 Oatmeal Banana Bread (since baking time is longer, if still baking at end of class time, students will be left with instructions, I am more than happy to extend class time for students who wish to stay past 1hr 15min mark) 10/8 Blueberry Biscuits 10/15 Cranberry Orange Muffins 10/22 Pop Tart Pie 10/29 Pumpkin Muffins *NOTE: THIS CLASS IS ONLY OFFERED ON SUNDAY MORNINGS AT THE CURRENT TIME BEING OFFERED - I cannot offer this class at any other time or day. ** Please note if you have any allergies, it is the parents' responsibility to read all ingredients. If you need help with finding a safe alternative ingredient, please let me know and I will do my best to help you. I cannot guarantee any alternatives outcomes on recipes we make in class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, my name is Peggy Hansen. I am a Social Worker and an online ESL Teacher. As a Social Worker I am committed to helping children become the best version of themselves through gaining an assertive voice, understanding their emotions, being mindful, building their self esteem and self confidence.
The way we feel about ourselves, the way we interpret and respond to our feelings has a major impact on our behavior, choices, and how well we cope with and enjoy life. My goal is to help children understand and accept themselves for who they are; so, they will be able to fully enjoy their life.
I am also an avid baker and crafter and I enjoy teaching children how to bake amazing (healthier) goodies and create amazing crafts. Children learn to build confidence and express themselves through baking and crafting!
Think about all the different feelings you have every day – from surprise to shame, elation to empathy – and how you react to each emotion. The way you deal with your feelings now is very different to how you would have at a young age.
Emotional development is a complex process that begins in infancy and continues into adulthood.
Emotional development starts with young kids:
having and owning our self-confidence and self-esteem learning what feelings and emotions are which includes understanding how and why they happen recognizing their own feelings and those of others developing effective ways of managing them.
As kids grow and are exposed to different situations, their emotional lives also become more complex. Developing skills for managing a wide range of emotions is really important for their emotional well-being.
As an ESL Teacher, I taught children ages 4-18 in both China and South Korea English online. The subjects I covered as an ESL Teacher teaching the English language range from all basic elementary subjects to middle school subjects as well as emotions. As an ESL Teacher I am Tesol Certified, Tesol Advanced Certified and TEFL Certified.
Here is a little more about me:
First and foremost, I am a mom of 3 (Debbie, Maxwell, and Johnathon), I also have three dogs named Wendy Wu, Sam, Gus and one cat names Lucy.
When I am not teaching, I can be found in my craft room letting my creativity flow, spending time with family and working on self-care.
I hold a master's degree in social work from Aurora University where I have focused my degree on helping children become the very best version of themselves.
I have four years’ experience working with teenagers in a residential treatment center working on life skills where we focused on self-esteem, identifying emotions and how to regulate those emotions and life skills.
I have experience with a Children's Foundation, where our goal is to teach empathy and to assist children in understanding their emotions. I worked with children from the ages of 5-18 where we worked on talking about our feelings (through artwork / games/ discussions) as well learn to identify our emotions.
What to expect in my class?
I encourage all my students to be themselves as I want their personalities to shine. I encourage my students to work together to create a community among themselves. I want all my students to leave my classroom with a better understanding of themselves and be able to teach others what they have learned. I love to see my students get excited about learning and expressing their own thoughts and ideas.
My goal is to bring excitement and energy in my classroom so your child will succeed in their learning.
I will also be offering other types of classes such as:
Crafts, Cooking/Baking, Self-Esteem and Self-Confidence for Girls.
Class Policies:
1) I aim to keep classes close to the scheduled amount of time, however, classes with low enrollments or high enrollments may run a few minutes under or a few minutes over (classes could run over if we are finishing a topic of conversation - I will not cut a student off from their thoughts/conversation as this tends to be very important to them).
2) If a class does not meet the minimum enrollment requirements, I may contact the parents and learners to confirm they want to continue class 24 hours before class is scheduled to begin or transfer into another section. I will teach the class unless the parent or learner requests to transfer to a more-full section.
3) Classes will begin at the scheduled time, even if all learners are not in the classroom (unless there appears to be a technical issue). I will not contact absent learners during class time so I can focus on the learners who are present.
4) If no learners are in the classroom, I will wait 10 minutes before exiting the classroom. In this situation, families will have to re-sign up for the class if they are still interested and no refunds will be issued as I spend a lot of time prepping for classes.
I am excited to meet your child(ren) in the classroom!
