Class Experience

Are you tired of rushing around each day? This class offers a calm and peaceful environment through the world of flower painting. While learning about the contemporary folk artist, Heather Galler, students will also be introduced to key terms in the elements of art and principles of design. No prior experience in art is needed. It is my goal to meet the students where they are in the art room. I truly believe that "everyone is an artist". It is my goal to help each of my students become the masterpiece I know they are. I ask my students to ART with all their HEART. Aim to do their best. Respect the teacher and the others in the class and Try their best.

Learning Goals

It is my goal to create a safe learning environment where my students feel excited about creating with courage. I truly believe everyone is an artist. It is my goal to help each and every one of my students become the masterpiece I know they are.

We will use the Studio Habits of the Mind as a framework for our class:

Students will connect with contemporary artists in the broader arts community
Students will explore and demonstrate elements of art: SHAPE, COLOR, LINE & principles of design: BALANCE, UNITY, PATTERN
Students will develop their craft with a variety of mediums including Pen, cray pas, and watercolor
Students will engage and persist and envision a flower bouquet
Students will reflect on their work and develop communication skills and confidence to share with other students at the end of class.

Welcome! 🙌🏼

I am so excited about the possibility of you joining me on your next learning adventure! Truly one of my joys in teaching is connecting with so many students from all over the world!

Ever since I was a young girl I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I have been in the field of education for over 25 years. I have worked with students ages 5 through 18 all over the world. I am fluent in the French language and taught in all types of schools from international, public, private, charter, and dual immersion. I hold an elementary K-8 teaching certification and a master's degree in education with a focus on teaching through the arts.

The arts, music, drama, storytelling, and visual arts, are integrated throughout my lessons and are used as a vehicle to teach core subjects such as English, history, math, ESL or French language. This diverse approach allows for many different learning styles to be embraced and enhances comprehension. In addition to core subjects, I offer classes in the arts to a variety of ages and levels.

Here are a few of the classes offered:
•	Art Classes in drawing, painting, sculpture, digital photography and design for all ages
•	Paragraph and essay writing for middle school (4-6th grade) narrative, argumentative and informative writing
•	Literature groups (reading and discussion of young adult novels)

Pet Portraits and puppy behaviors

Not only do I have a passion for the arts, but I also love teaching and igniting the spark of learning in my students. It is truly my goal to help my students discover their own creativity and tap into the artist or writer within and have fun while doing it. In my classes, students learn to embrace a growth mindset and practice mindfulness. We practice skills that will prepare them to be responsible citizens in a global world. It is truly a joy to connect with each of my students.

When I am not teaching, you can find me creating my own art, using bright and cheerful colors or running up and down mountains breathing in the fresh, natural air. I love spending time with my two sons, my husband, and our new puppy. You may even get a chance to see her in class sometime if you're lucky.

I hope you will join me in my next learning adventure! 🌈Remember, Creativity is not canceled, it is here to stay and will help send us on our way! Be Kind, Be Creative and Stay Safe.

Warmly,

 💕 Mrs. Silitch
