Students will work on narrative writing, how-to writing, informative writing and opinion writing with fun and exciting, seasonal/holiday themed writing prompts that are fresh and new each month!
I am a certified elementary teacher and have taught phonics, reading, writing and math for many years. In my 2nd grade classroom I taught Writer's Workshop each day and met with students in small groups and individually after delivering the whole group lesson. Before teaching 2nd grade, I tutored students in reading comprehension, decoding words, math and science after school and during the summer. I was also a Title 1 reading intervention specialist for grades kindergarten-3rd grade focusing on reading fluency and comprehension strategies. I have worked in a preschool and pre-k setting as well working on a variety of literacy skills.
Pencil and paper We may draw a graphic organizer on the back of our papers to help us plan.
When completing research for informative writing, we will use kid friendly articles that abide by the Outschool guidelines.
