Summer Themed ASL Signs Camp

In this 4 week summer camp students will meet to practice ASL signs about the summer time. We will learn by playing ASL bingo, would you rather in ASL, ASL memory games, ASL story times and lots of practice.

Class Experience

This class will cover a range of signing topics with the overall topic being ASL signs for the summer. We will practice asking and answering questions in ASL as well as signing words and phrases. My teaching style is interactive and I incorporate visuals and games. 
Week 1 (July 1st)- Topic- Introductions in ASL and sharing simple sentences in ASL about the summer time. Visual Aids will be used with Top 5 Summer time themed vocabulary including summer time snacks, drinks, activities and Vacations. We will practice signs for the summer and the ASL alphabet with a summer time themed ASL alphabet practice. We will practice finger spelling summer time words with a finger spelling game. 
Week 2 (July 8th)- Topic- ASL signs for Summer time foods and drinks. Students will practice foods and drinks vocabulary and asking and answering questions related to foods and drinks. If we have time we will also play a would you rather game with signs for foods and drinks. 
Week 3- (July 15th) Topic- ASL signs for Family and Friends, Summer time Vacation and Activities with Family and Friends. We will practice signs for family members and summer time Vacations we take with family. We will also have an ASL story time "On the First Day of Summer Vacation." 
Week 4- (July 22nd) Topic -Summer time sports and game we like to play in Summer. We will play an ASL Jeopardy Game that will include vocabulary topics that we have practiced throughout the 4 weeks.

I graduated from a post bachelor's ASL Interpreter training program and received my certificate for Interpreter Training. I have worked as an educational ASL Interpreter as well as providing Autistic communication support with ASL and the use of AAC devices for 4 years. I have taught ASL signs on Out school for almost 3 years. I have instructed an ASL program at an early learning center for a year.
