📚 Welcome to Summer Story Time for K-2: Read Alouds With Mrs. Kim! 📚

Come with me on a journey during each Story Time session!

In all my years of teaching, read-aloud time was always the most impactful in the classroom. *Certified and Degreed Teacher for 25+ years!*

⭐️ WHY IS READING ALOUD IMPORTANT?⭐️
Reading aloud to children has been proven by research to improve a child's comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency and is the single most important activity for building the knowledge required for success in reading. WOW!

Even more important, it is MY FAVORITE THING TO DO!
Come join me as I put on my storytelling hat 👒 of the day and share a favorite story with your child.

 📚 BOOKS TO BE READ:
In this ongoing Summer class, we will begin with the following themes:

Week 1- Books by Jon Klassen (I Want My Hat Back and many more!)

Week 2- Books by Mo Willems (Elephant & Piggie and Pigeon books!)

Week 3- Books by Dr. Seuss

Week 4- Books by Peter Reynolds

Week 5- Books that have won the Caldecott Medal

Week 6- Books by Mercer Mayer (Little Critter books)

Week 7- Curious George stories

Week 8- Books with Dragons and Knights!

Week 9 and Beyond- Will be added- TBD

⭐️ STRUCTURE OF THE CLASS:
Each class will begin with an introduction to the book, quickly followed by an interactive read-aloud. I will give students hand signals to use so that I may get their input throughout the story. If we have time at the end of class, I will lead the children in a song or rhyme!

⭐️ EXPECTATIONS:
Children should remain muted, and attentive! Children are welcome to draw and color while listening to the story or stories of the day.
Learning Goals
Students will be introduced to a wide variety of authors and their picture books.
