Students can stay on top of stock market news and current events during the summer break! We will discuss the headlines and trending news about companies. See how hot new products, company mistakes, and economic events affect stock market prices so you can maximize your investment gains in a stock market simulation game! The discussion group will meet weekly for 6 weeks.

Are Zoom video meetings being hacked? Why did GameStop stock go up so much? Will Roblox be able to compete with other video game companies? Each week we will review the major headlines and discuss how the latest news will affect the stock prices of companies you know. Students will use a stock market simulation game to invest in real stocks and see if their stock predictions were correct! Students will improve their knowledge of current events including business news, economic events, and new product development. This is a discussion based class so students will gain experience and confidence in presenting their ideas, analyzing information, and developing informed opinions.
I am a certified and tenured Business Education Teacher with expertise in stock market investing and stock analysis. I have taught over 2000 students on Outschool and have outstanding ratings. This course will be the prefect follow up for my Outschool investment students (Beginner, Level 2 and Level 3 students ) as well as students interested in discussing and exploring current events in a focused way.
No formal homework will be assigned but students will be encouraged to bring current event topics that they are interested in to class for discussion. A worksheet will be provided to help guide students as they analyze news articles/events and share their news stories.
