Summer Social Club! | 2nd and 3rd Grade

In this 3-week social club, students will have the opportunity to have conversations and practice social skills with other students in the same age range. This club is designed for students in 2nd and 3rd grade.

Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 3
In this 3 week long summer social club, students will practice social skills while completing fun summer themed activities and socializing with other students! We will use fun summer themed prompts to promote conversation skills. We will follow 6 different themes, a new theme for every meeting! (All themes are listed in the syllabus!)

Our activities will include drawing, word searches, puzzles / riddle solving (team building), short story writing, read aloud story times, and interactive blooket games!

Syllabus

6 Lessons
over 3 Weeks
Lesson 1:
Theme: swimming: "Do you prefer swimming in the ocean or a pool?"
 We will be practicing conversations / debates, on ocean swimming vs pool swimming. We will also be telling stories about experiences we have had with either pool or ocean swimming, and drawing pictures to go along with our stories!

Lesson 2:
Theme: summertime: "What does the perfect summer day look like to you?"
 We will be talking about the perfect summer day, and writing short stories to go along with our ideas of a perfect summer day. We will also be completing a word search on fun summertime words.

Lesson 3:
Theme: sea creatures: "If you were a sea creature, what would you be?"
 We will be reading a story on different types of sea creatures, and we will then talk about what type of sea creatures we would want to be. We will also be drawing those creatures and describing them to each other.

Lesson 4:
Theme- animals: "What type of sea creature seems the most interesting to you?"
 We will be discussing the most interesting types of sea creatures, and then we will complete a cut out puzzle from under the sea! After the puzzle, we will work to decode a riddle about the ocean!

Supply List
Students will need to print out worksheets to be used in class, which will be posted in the classroom prior to the start of class.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

- I have 7 years of experience teaching preschool, and I have experience with teaching 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and 4th grade!
- I have a passion for teaching and I absolutely love being able to help learners grow
