In this fun, ongoing music course students weekly will expand their knowledge of playing the guitar by reading music, learning chords, beginning music theory, and ear training.

Class Experience

This course is designed to help young musicians learn how to read music with a relaxed approach, play melodies on the guitar and begin playing simple chords.  Students will need to purchase a guitar book for this class.

Each week students will learn and review music terms and symbols that will help them become more fluent with reading music.  As a group, students will work on melodies and chords, but students will be encouraged to also choose a song to work on during the week and play for...

Students will learn music symbols, how to read guitar music, and how to play chords.

I have been teaching guitar since I was in high school.  I have had almost 2 decades of experience working in the elementary classroom and really try to connect with students to help them understand and enjoy the language of music.
