Class Experience
Scrunchies!! This trendy versatile hair accessory is a summer must-have. Keep cool with your hair up, and share handmade scrunchies with your friends! In this 2 day class beginners will learn to make crochet hair scrunchies. Hair scrunchies are an ideal beginner project. There are no lengthy patterns to read, no sizes to worry about, and mistakes are easy to either fix, make look intentional, or hide! We will begin with the very basics: learning terminology, best practices for holding your...
Students will learn to read abbreviations for 4 crochet stitches. They will learn how to hold yarn and a crochet hook left or right handed, with modifications for comfort. They will learn how to slip knot, slip stitch, single crochet and double crochet. They will learn how to wrap a hair rubber-band with crochet, how to fix mistakes and how to finish off a project. NOTE: This class is ideally taken with the student on camera for most of the class so that the teacher can observe and assist with the student's hand motions. Some students may wish to take the class more than one time for maximum proficiency.
I've been crocheting for more than 10 years. I make a variety of accessories, household items, decorative items and amigurumi. I have taught many children and adults to crochet.
No homework is assigned, however students are welcomed and encouraged to make progress on their crochet project between classes.
Students will need one or more hair elastic rubber-band, a crochet hook - recommended one in size I, J, or/ K range (appx 6 mm) approximately 2 ounces (50 grams) of worsted weight (#4) yarn, scissors and a yarn needle.
There is no assessment for this class.
