Don't go into Algebra 2 unprepared! This class is here to help! Each meeting reviews one of the many important topics in Algebra that are essential for success as you move forward in your math journey.

Each class will review an essential pre-algebra or algebra 1 math topic. My teaching style is an interactive lecture with lots of examples and practice problems. I'll ask each learner specific questions to check for understanding. At the beginning of the class, I'll explain the topic and then we'll do some practice problems together and individually. Each class always ends with a game that uses the skills we've reviewed such as bingo, escape rooms, or Kahoot competitive quizzes. Learners should have already completed a full year of Algebra 1.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I'm Teacher Sarah! I teach math and finance classes and recently have added book clubs to my class offerings. I recently graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a B.S. in Applied Mathematics. I also hold a TESOL teaching certificate. During my time in university, I had many teaching experiences. I've worked as a private math tutor for students ranging from age 8 up to 20 since 2015. Last spring, I completed a student teaching practicum teaching math and physics in a high school classroom. For three years I was a part of the Expanding Your Horizons events where we tried to inspire middle school-aged girls to pursue a career in stem by hosting events where we guided the students through a day of exciting hands-on science projects. Finally, since 2016 I have worked on a variety of online platforms teaching English as a second language to students young and old from all over the world! I believe in making math fun and engaging by exploring its relationship with other subjects that the student is interested in. That is why my math courses usually have a secondary focus such as money, data science, sports, or architecture. This allows the student to almost forget they are in a math class!
