Summer Refresher 3rd Grade Math Camp- Perfect for Review!

OVERVIEW:
In this Summer Refresher 3rd Grade Math course, students will review the most critical Common Core Third Grade Standards through discussion, practice, and engaging activities. The skills reviewed in this course are foundational and important for future success in higher grades. There will be opportunities for additional at-home practice between classes, as well. Students may attend all weeks of this course or select the skills and strategies they wish to review 

*Please note: Students will REVIEW multiple math skills and strategies. If your learner has not already learned this 3rd grade content, I highly recommend my 3rd Grade Math Crash Course that moves at a slower pace and teaches the skills more in-depth to novice learners.

LESSON STRUCTURE:
1. Introductions- This warmup will allow students to get to know each other and practice fluency and mental math. 
2. Teacher Instruction- Teacher will provide a mini-lesson for the topic of the day. 
3. Student Practice- Students will have the opportunity to collaboratively and independently practice the skill. Students will be provided individualized feedback throughout all independent and interactive activities 
•Additional practice problems may be provided at the end of each class to allow students additional opportunities for at-home practice.

WEEKLY TOPICS/SCHEDULE: 
This course will provide one 45 minute classes a week with the following tentative summer schedule. 

Week of June 12: Place Value & Rounding
Week of June 19: Addition & Subtraction  
Week of June 20: Multiplication Strategies
Week of June 26: Division Strategies
Week of July 3: Fractions - Parts of a Whole & Fractions on a Number line and Comparing/Ordering 
Week of July 10: Equivalent Fractions
Week of July 17: Perimeter & Area 
Week of July 24 Telling Time/Elapsed Time & Graphing

CLASS EXPECTATIONS
My goal in all of my classes is to encourage participation from all learners in my classes.  I review the following expectations at the beginning of each class: 
1. Stay on mute unless you have raised your hand and/or Ms. Bria has called on you. (This will allow a respectful environment in which all students have the opportunity to participate fairly.)
2. Be kind to and patient with our classmates and teacher! (I always expect that students are at various levels of ability. I ask for students to be patient with one another to ensure that everyone has "think time". I will provide differentiated scaffolded questions to each learner and additional problems for fast finishers).
3. Annotate on the screen only when asked. (This course is interactive! Students will have the ability to annotate on the screen, if their device allows for this capability. They can also use a piece of paper to show their mathematical thinking as well.) 

SIBLINGS
Each learner that wants to participate must be enrolled in the class to be fair to all enrolled students. 

CLASS SIZE
In order to differentiate these lessons and provide adequate support to each learner, each of my math courses are limited to 5-6 students. I strive to provide quality math instruction to each learner, and I strongly believe that small group instruction is the best strategy.  Due to the nature of ongoing classes and the limited space in each of my courses, I am unable to give refunds to students when a class is missed.
