Summer Reading Help for Second Grade

It’s almost summer! This class is perfect for students that would like to reinforce reading skills learned in second grade.  Did you know that students have shown to have lost up to two months of reading skills over the summer? Summer learning loss is real and can impact students achievement.  All the years gains can affect the following school year. This class will help prevent this by practice and review skills and can maintain their level of reading for them to continue to grow! 

This class will review skills  such as decoding, comprehension and fluency.  In every class we will begin with phonic work, vocabulary, and comprehension questions. I will support each child with individual help in reading.  I prefer and believe reading classes should be small. There is always time for hands-on activities, games, and fun vocabulary. 

It is important to reinforce summer reading and keep students motivated.  A summer reading class is a great way to maintain your child’s reading skills!
