These classes and games are designed to engage learners in a way that makes blending fun! We will play Summer themed games while developing letter sound recognition, blending short vowel words, and spelling. This is a small group class that is interactive. I will provide plenty of opportunities for each student to participate and be guided individually by the teacher to develop his or her reading skills at his or her level. I will focus on providing students practice with blending short vowel (cvc) words during the games. I will provide some instruction to students that will help them strengthen their blending skills, but this is not a class to teach students how to blend. Please see my class on Beginning Blending if your child needs to learn how to blend sounds together. The games will be more fun and move more smoothly if students are able to blend on their own. This gaming class is appropriate for students that might need to practice blending faster or need work to blend the sounds in a short vowel word accurately. If these are the skills your child needs to improve, then these are the classes for you! Weekly Themes: Week 1 - Watermelon During these games, students will develop their understanding of individual letter sounds and blending 2 sounds together. Week 2 - Ice Cream During these games, students will develop their understanding of blending 3 sounds together (cvc) Week 3 - Beach During these games, students will develop their understanding of vowel sounds and ending rimes. Week 4 - Camping During these games, students will develop their understanding of sound segmenting and spelling (cvc) words.
