Class Experience

Students will:
~Improve reading comprehension skills by answering questions about the texts
--Clearly identify their goal/s
--Identify what roadblocks get in the way of reaching their goal/s
--Identify the common roadblocks faced by three people who reached their goals and the actions/attitudes that helped them (Albert Einstein, Amy Tan, and Michael Jordan)
--Create a plan to overcome specific roadblocks using ideas from the three inspiring people we study
I have an M.A. in English and have been teaching for over 23 years. I have helped students use biographies to find inspiration and create a plan to learn from failure and to find inspiration to reach their goals.
You will need something to write on to take notes and create a plan (paper or digital).
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
2 hours per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We will read and discuss brief biographies about Albert Einstein, Amy Tan, and Michael Jordan. I will provide the biographies used in class.
