In this two hour camp we will discuss how to learn from failure and stay inspired to reach our goals. We will read and discuss the brief biographies of Albert Einstein, Amy Tan (author of The Joy Luck Club), and Michael Jordan, drawing from their experiences to help us create a concrete plan. Students will: ~practice reading comprehensions skills by answering questions about the text --Clearly identify their goal/s --Identify what roadblocks get in the way of reaching their goal/s --Identify the common roadblocks faced by three people who reached their goals and the actions/attitudes that helped them (Albert Einstein, Amy Tan, and Michael Jordan) --Create a plan to overcome specific roadblocks using ideas from the three inspiring people we study
I have an M.A. in English and have been teaching for over 23 years. I have helped students use biographies to find inspiration and create a plan to learn from failure and to find inspiration to reach their goals.
You will need something to write on to take notes and create a plan (paper or digital).
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
