Summer Reading Camp, Book Club Style: The Selection
In this 3-week summer camp, students will read and discuss The Selection by Kiera Cass in a book club format in order to keep their reading skills fresh over the summer, and we will end with a royal celebration.

Class Experience
Want to read a book that will not only help keep your reading skills fresh over the summer but will also entertain and engage you along the way? Join me in this summer camp where we read and discuss The Selection by Kiera Cass together. In proper book-club style, we will discuss the assigned reading and then will analyze and hypothesize what is happening/what will happen in the book. Students will be able to keep their reading and analysis skills fresh over the summer.
Students will need to read the assigned chapters (listed in the course description) before each of our camp meeting dates.
Students will need to purchase The Selection or borrow it from their local libraries.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Through our discussion and analysis, I will be able to see how well students understand the book and its plot, characters, setting, and more.
2 hours 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
There are brief moments of violence, but it is all considerably mild.
