This foundational class, based in the Science of Reading, covers essential reading skills in a fun and engaging way. Our curriculum is 100% aligned to a comprehensive, heavily researched, systematic and explicit phonics-based scope & sequence that is rooted in the Science of Reading. We will work on high frequency words (decodable and irregular), multisyllabic words, word chains, dictation practice, and fluency. Our desire is to SPARK your child’s passion for reading through a variety of activities and games. Students can join the class at any time as we spiral back to review all previously taught concepts each week. It’s the perfect class for ESL students too! Here is the scope and sequence for our summer camp: Week of 6/3: Consonant Digraphs review Week of 6/10: VCe review Week of 6/17: Open/closed syllables review Week of 6/24: Ending spelling patterns review Week of 7/1: Syllable division review Week of 7/8: R-controlled review Week of 7/15: Vowel teams review Week of 7/22: Diphthongs and silent letters review Week of 7/29: Consonant-le review Week of 8/5: Prefixes review Week of 8/12: Suffixes review Decodable books and additional resources will be provided each week to enrolled students for extra practice. We also offer a variety of diagnostic reading assessments, one-on-one private tutoring sessions, and reading/writing intervention sessions to help your child become more fluent and confident in reading and writing.

We will be using a whiteboard, dry erase marker, and counters (anything small and uniform like buttons, coins, goldfish, marshmallows, legos, etc.) each class.
