This 50-minutes class is intended to keep kids in books during the summer while also giving them some time to practice. During the first half of class the students will have a book read to them over Zoom, likely through screen sharing when available, and during the second half of class those who choose to will have a chance to read to the group as well. The readings will be picture books appropriate for those ages 3-7. When applicable, a short video clip or two might be used as well, but the...
In this course students will: - gain experience in interacting with other kids and the teacher in a virtual classroom - learn titles and authors of age-appropriate books - be exposed to and practice basic reading skills This will be an ongoing class in which new books are introduced each week. I will spend the first half of the class reading to the kids, and the second half will be spent with the kiddos improving their reading skills by reading what they can to the class.
I have been an English teacher for over 25 years and have raised two children . Reading was an important part of our lives, and I look forward to sharing more positive learning experiences in this class!
