In this four week class, students will be introduced to a wide variety of poem styles. They will learn the structure of writing poems, they will learn that all poems do not rhyme.They will learn how to identify rhyming word patterns in poetry. Connecting this concept to patterns in math will be explained and shown. Students will receive guided instruction in reading, analyzing and writing their own poems. This class is taught in English.
A writing notebook or folder is recommended. I will post poems for weeks 2 and 3 in the learner classroom message/greeting as an attachment on the Sunday evening before class. Please print the poems as we will use them as part of the lessons. This class will be fun, engaging and provide a strong foundation in writing and understanding the elements of poetry.
