Homework
Frequency: 3-6 per weekFeedback: Available upon requestDetails: Homework will be practice time in between scheduled lesson times. A total of approximately 15-30 minutes should be enough to secure the information and be prepared for the next lesson. The practice expectations will be emailed with the slideshow to the learner at the end of each class. Slides may be printed at the parent's discretion. Some slides will be duplicates of previous classes as we review the information. Students need to be able to view the screen share with my hints and helper markings during class. Printed slides are great for practice time when learners are taking a break from screen-time.Assessment
Frequency: 1 after class completionDetails: After the camp, an email will be sent to the learner recommending a class in the Piano Music Class series to continue their progress.
Learners do not have to have any previous experience on piano or keyboard for this class.
Access to a piano or keyboard during lessons where the learner's elbows are the same height as the keys. Keyboards on tables are often too high (chest or shoulder height) which can harm wrists and hinder movement. Students need to be able to see the classroom screen where the music will be shown in a slideshow while they are sitting at their piano. It is very important to make sure I can hear your piano and that it is not blocked by the background noise suppression through Zoom. **Please turn on "Original Sound for Musicians" in the Zoom audio settings before class. ** If you need instructions on how to enable this setting, please watch this youtube tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEZMRtrSsYY Students using a desktop or laptop can adjust this setting during the meeting. However, students using a phone or tablet must enable Original Sound before entering the class or I may not be able to hear your piano. Learners will get access to a class slideshow in their email with the songs and homework worksheets daily for practicing. Learners will need a keyboard or piano and may like having paper and pencil. No book purchases are required for this class.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Google Slideshow links for each lesson are provided after class to the learner's Outschool system email. Music slides may be printed for practicing off screens. Any youtube videos posted on the Classroom page will be opened in a small window on Outschool. Learners will NOT be asked to go to Youtube on their own.
