Beginner Level
This beginner class is perfect for families trying to determine if Piano Lessons are right for their learner. A Piano Class in a group setting is perfect for beginners as we learn the basics and students are motivated by performing with their peers. This introductory Piano Class will explore the fundamentals of playing the piano. Lessons will be engaging and learners will be supported as we learn to read music and correct techniques for playing. This is an Ongoing Class which means you are charged every Sunday for just the class that week. If at any point this class is no longer a good fit, you can un-enroll and will no longer be charged. If your learner is a beginner and has had little or no Piano instruction, make sure to enroll at the beginning of a section (Class 1) up to one week late. See below for those dates. This class builds upon instruction from week to week therefore, if a section has already begun new learners can only be enrolled late if they have previous piano instruction or by enrolling in a Private Lesson to get the material already taught. Please message me for more information and I will help you determine where your learner can successfully enroll! This class is also offered once a week during the school year if that schedule would work better for your family. (Lesson pgs. 26 | Theory pg. 19) **************************************************************************************************** TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL CLASS 1. It is important to see learners' faces and hands during the class. Have learners sitting at their piano/keyboard and have your device able to capture them from the head to their lower ribcage. I will be able to offer learners feedback on the use of their hands/fingers this way during the lesson. (Example Picture is provided below) I would highly discourage using a Phone or other small devices for this class. The larger the screen, the better experience your learner will have. 2. Please have all Materials ready prior to starting class. Learners will need a Piano or Keyboard, Pencil, Ear Phones/Buds, and Method Books for each class. 3. In some lessons, learners will need to write in their Method Books. Please make sure your space is equipped for this to be possible with a clipboard, desk, or something hard to write on. 4. Younger learners WILL benefit from having an adult sitting next to them (off camera) for help, especially in the first class or two. Learning the piano virtually is possible, but may need adult supervision to get started. You know your child best! 5. Ensure learners are in a quiet space or have earphones/buds to allow them to hear the teacher and stay engaged. **************************************************************************************************** ADDITIONAL CLASSES OFFERED | One Time Classes | Piano 101: A Beginner Piano Lesson https://outschool.com/classes/piano-101-a-beginner-piano-lesson-uxiUBV6v?usid=wIYXlKPR&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link Be a Star! a One-Time Beginner Singing | Voice Lesson https://outschool.com/classes/be-a-star-a-beginner-singingvoice-lesson-LVoXPFvn?usid=wIYXlKPR&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link Recorder Karate 101: Beginners Can Learn to Read Music and Play an Instrument https://outschool.com/classes/recorder-karate-101-music-reading-beginner-band-fun-ibSiylVw?usid=wIYXlKPR&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link 1:1 Private Lesson: Piano, Voice, Musical Theater, Audition Prep https://outschool.com/classes/11-private-lesson-piano-voice-musical-theater-audition-prep-klcAo7mm?usid=wIYXlKPR&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link | Multi Day Classes & Camps | Beginner Piano Lessons: Level 1a (5 classes) https://outschool.com/classes/beginner-piano-lessons-level-1a-AyCIxsmg?usid=wIYXlKPR&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link Recorder Karate Camp: Learn How to Read Music and Play an Instrument https://outschool.com/classes/recorder-karate-summer-camp-learn-how-to-read-music-and-play-an-instrument-88sTqhpS?usid=wIYXlKPR&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link | Ongoing Classes | Singing Club | Weekly Voice Lessons for Beginners https://outschool.com/classes/weekly-singingvoice-lessons-ongoing-class-for-beginners-5iIihoou?usid=wIYXlKPR&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link Recorder Karate Club: Have Fun Reading Music and Mastering Your Instrument https://outschool.com/classes/recorder-karate-club-have-fun-reading-music-and-mastering-your-instrument-vfBYOpxy?usid=wIYXlKPR&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link Private Piano Lessons | Ongoing Class for Beginner or Experienced Learners https://outschool.com/classes/private-piano-lessons-or-ongoing-class-for-beginner-or-experienced-learners-UN9AaTyk?usid=wIYXlKPR&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link

Teacher expertise and credentials
Maryland Teaching Certificate in Music/Theater/Arts
Hello Outschool Families! I’m a certified educator in the USA. I've been teaching on Outschool for two years now and have loved establishing relationships with learners and their families, some I still have since I started! I've been teaching the Piano for just over 15 years and teaching a variety of other Performing Arts subjects since graduating with my degree in Music Education in 2009.
Music has been a passion of mine since I was a child. I grew up in a musical family, sang in church and school, began piano lessons in first grade, was in several musicals, was in the band where I played the flute and piccolo, and lead music at my church on the worship team. I am passionate about students and education! Here are a couple facts about me.

My goal is that every learner and family leaves my class feeling their time was well spent!
I look forward to getting to know you and hope our time together will leave a lasting impact!
