In this 4 day a week summer camp phonic class we will learn letter blends, silent e and digraphs. We will learn to blend to decode (read) and segment to encode (spell) words all while having fun! #academic
Class experience
US Grade Kindergarten - 1
In this ongoing class, each week we will learn a new set of blends (2 consonant sounds that blend together), consonant digraphs (2 consonants that make a new sound), or long vowel sounds. These are skills typically taught in the second semester of Kindergarten. On day one, we will practice making the sounds in isolation, blending with them into words, and then play a game with our new words. On day two, we will practice with additional blending, complete a word sort, play a game, and read...
Students will hear the new sound in words. Students will identify the new sound in written words. Students will practice blending sounds in words to read them. Students will sort words by different sounds and/or spellings. Students will participate in reading a decodable reader using new sounds.
I am a licensed K-12 special education teacher with over 25 years of experience. I have taught Pre-K - 5th grade reading and math skills to students from 3-15 for the last several years on Outschool with 100s of satisfied parents and learners.
