Go for the Gold in this fun and interactive kids yoga class where little yogis will build their inner and outer strength while learning foundational yoga poses, breathing, and relaxation techniques. Class will begin with "opening ceremonies" as each student goes around the Zoom and introduces themselves, what country they're from, and their favorite summer Olympic event. During this part of the class, we're working on turn-talking and getting comfortable speaking in front of a group. Next, we'll do a short warm-up to get our bodies ready for yoga. Then, it's time for the main event. Students will learn a variety of foundational yoga poses with themes that correspond to the summer Olympic competition. Archery, Rowing, Cycling, Taekwondo are just some of the events and poses that kids will learn. Each posture will help to build balance, flexibility, and coordination all while having fun! We'll also explore some active movement exercises to make our Olympic bodies strong! Because of the instructional nature of this class, lines are muted during the main event, but there is plenty of interaction at the beginning and the teacher strives for co-creation, giving the kids choices throughout the lesson.
Learning Goals
- Kids will learn a variety of foundational yoga poses that improve balance, coordination, strength, and flexibility building gross motor skills.
