During the summer, students will move and sing to music. The class heavily relies on movement with music, as it fits the energy level of preschoolers and makes music fun. Sometimes we will also be using instruments or scarves (please view the material list below). During the summer we will work on fine/gross motor skills, keeping a steady beat, playing instruments, and starting to look at rhythms! Classes will include movement to songs, but will not exert students to a level of physical fitness such as a dance class or P.E. class. A typical class will look like this: - Welcome Song - Finger-play - Mini Review of Last Week's Lesson - Move! - Activity - Alphabet Action Song - Sing - Wrap-up Class - Goodbye Song and Positive Affirmation Each class will have movements, finger-plays, and songs, but will revolve around a specific topic to keep up interest and introduce more information and concepts from other areas. Below are the current topics: Week of June 7: Heartbeat of the Music Week of June 14: Bumblebees and Bugs Week of June 21: Seasons of the Year Week of June 28: Transportation (Cars, Planes, Boats, Trains) Week of July 5: The Beach Week of July 12: Foods

Supply List
I suggest to put a "music-bag" or "music-box" together so that you will have all materials you might need in an easy-to-access spot! Each material is something you can purchase, might already have, and I will list a DIY option for every one. We will not use every single material in every class, but they will be good to have on hand for the times we will use them. - Rhythm or Drum Sticks (DIY: Two Wooden Spoons) - Shaker (DIY: Tupperware with beans/rice) - Scarf (DIY: Bandana or other piece of small fabric)

Hello friends!
My name is Ms. Ally and I teach piano lessons.
I have been playing the piano since I was 7 years old, and never stopped! I have a Bachelors of Music Education, and a Masters in Piano Pedagogy (which is just a fancy word for teaching!). I am also a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music, credited by the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). In order to receive certifications I have to meet 5 of MTNA's criteria, and uphold those criteria every year.
I value the fun and joy of learning, and work with learners to create that space for them. I like to meet learners where they are at in order to help them grow as musicians and as individuals. My teaching philosophy consists of four specific goals: a joyful space, intentional lessons and planning, a personal learning path for each student, and a place for students to develop their musical skills. These four bingo words (joyful, intentional, personal, musical) are in my mind as I plan and teach each class.
