Class Experience
Does your family enjoy movie nights? Do your kids love talking about their favorite movies? Do you have a reluctant reader? An avid reader that loves to compare their books to movie versions? They will then gather with friends each week to talk about the movie in a fun "book club" atmosphere. The assigned movies in this series are generally film adaptations of classic...
BS Degree in English Education, 30+ years teaching experience, former homeschool mom, current loving Nana to some beautiful grandchildren
Students will be asked to watch a classic children's movie each week. There will be occasional viewing guides, worksheets, or coloring sheets to supplement the class.
Students are expected to watch the movie-of-the-week at home before class. These movies will generally be available on one of the various streaming sites, and can often be found on DVD at a local library.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Each movie will be family-friendly in content (rated G or PG). There may be occasional tense moments or serious themes. Parents are encouraged to check out each movie through Common Sense Media or IMDB to be sure that the movie is appropriate for their learner and aligns with their family's viewing standards.
