Class Experience
This course is a review of essential math topics designed to prepare 6th grade students for 7th grade math. The course will use the 5E instructional model, which includes five phases: Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate. Throughout the course, students will engage in a variety of activities, including discussions, problem-solving tasks, and practice exercises. Understand the concept of division and perform Base 10 Division Divide fractions using different methods Calculate unit rates and solve problems involving ratios and proportions Convert between fractions, decimals, and percents, and use percentages to solve real-world problems related to sales tax, discounts, and markups.

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Pre and post assessment for progress monitoring. Formative (ungraded) assessment during lessons. Final progress report.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
This class will utilize the following tools. Desmos - I will provide each learner with a code to join. Kahoot - Learners do not need an account. They can join through a code. Google Drive - We may use Jamboards and google forms for some introductory activities. Learners do not need a google account. Zearn - I will provide each learner with their own code to join and practice. Having a google account will make logging in much easier, but is not necessary.
