US Grade 2 - 3
In this ongoing summer class, students gain practice in skills of addition and subtraction with regrouping, while engaging in game play. This class follows a Singapore Math style. It's perfect for those who have already been introduced to regrouping, but need some more practice. It's also great for kids who love math, and want to keep up their skills over the summer. All activities in this class will be centered around addition and subtraction with regrouping. Students should be comfortable with place value (hundreds, tens, and ones), read numbers to 1,000, and know their addition and subtraction facts to 20. Please keep in mind that although I do take advantage of teachable moments, this class is NOT instructional in nature. It is meant to supplement other instruction or provide a review to material that students learned in the previous school year. ***************** SUMMER 2023 ***************** The schedule below lists the focus for each week. Students do a lot of hands-on work, as well as, mental math. Instead of mimicking procedures, they learn how to think mathematically and apply what they know to solve problems. One of the major benefits of the program is the hands-on activities and games. This class provides them with the opportunity to play and learn with other students from around the world!
